Waarom planners hetzelfde antwoord anders geven

Zelfde auto, zelfde route, zelfde dag. De ene zegt drie stops en zes uur, de andere twee stops en vijf. Geen van beide liegt — ze zijn het oneens over dingen die werkelijk onzeker zijn.

Ze gaan uit van verschillende snelheden

Luchtweerstand neemt toe met het kwadraat van de snelheid, en het vermogen dat nodig is om die te overwinnen met de derde macht. Het verschil tussen 110 km/u en 130 km/u is dus geen verschil van twintig procent in verbruik; het is veel groter. Een planner die aanneemt dat u op de limiet blijft rijden en een die aanneemt dat u er net onder blijft, modelleren twee verschillende reizen.

Met de meeste tools kunt u dit instellen, en de meeste mensen doen dat nooit. Als twee planners van mening verschillen en u kunt maar één ding controleren, controleer dan de aangenomen snelheid.

Ze modelleren de laadcurve anders, of helemaal niet

Een lithium-ionpack accepteert hoog vermogen bij een lage laadtoestand en neemt sterk af naarmate het volloopt [3]. Het praktische gevolg is dat de laatste twintig procent van een lading net zo lang kan duren als de eerste vijftig, waardoor de optimale strategie meestal meer, kortere stops is, in plaats van minder, langere.

Een planner die dit correct modelleert, zal een reisplan opleveren dat inefficiënt oogt — vier stops in plaats van twee — en dat u toch sneller ter bestemming brengt. Een planner die laden als een vast tarief behandelt, produceert een net ogend plan dat onjuist is.

Ze zijn het oneens over het weer

Kou vermindert het bruikbare bereik en vertraagt tegelijk de snelheid waarmee het pack lading zal accepteren [4]. Beide effecten werken in dezelfde richting, en een plan dat gebaseerd is op het verbruik bij mild weer kan falen op een manier die een kleine foutmarge niet opvangt.

Dit is het onderdeel waarbij het verschil tussen planners het meest ingrijpend is, en daarom behandelt de capaciteitstabel weermodellering als een essentiële functie in plaats van een leuke extra.

Ze zijn het oneens over hoe bang u zou moeten zijn

Aankomstbuffer — hoeveel lading een planner erop staat dat u nog over heeft wanneer u een stop bereikt — is geen fysieke grootheid. Het is een beleidskeuze. Een tool die is ingesteld om met 10% aan te komen en een die is ingesteld op 20% zullen bij identieke input aanzienlijk verschillende reisplannen opleveren, en geen van beide is onjuist.

Rijangst is een goed gedocumenteerde invloed op hoe bestuurders daadwerkelijk handelen, los van wat de auto kan [5]. Een planner waarmee u dit kunt instellen, laat u uw eigen zenuwen inprijzen, en dat is precies waar die beslissing moet liggen.

Wat je hieraan kunt doen

  • Stel de snelheidsaanname in op wat u werkelijk rijdt, niet op wat u van plan bent.
  • Plan op een koude dag met de pessimistische tool en behandel de optimistische als een beste-geval-scenario.
  • Vertrouw eerder op een planner die u meer, kortere stops geeft dan op een die u minder, langere geeft.
  • Herplan tijdens de reis in plaats van bij de start. Elke input is dan al verschoven.
